2009 ROSE SHOW: Hort

Carolyn and her crew, Jane Cheadle and Susan Blaylock, searched the valley for entries for the Hort portion of the show. Unfortunately they found only a few and only one of those was up to snuff at entry time.

Now, about that lone remaining specimen - Susan dropped her purse on it :( Yikes!!! Thank goodness it was from her garden but we know it would have won a blue.

2009 ROSE SHOW: Extra-curricular Activities

Franklin proved to be a city full of history so we took a quick walking tour with "Ash" (obedient husband of past Franklin GC pres!)

Started at the Train Station, now a Tourist Info location, and walked down to the river. We heard tales of past settlers, learned about the paper/pulp operation and were shocked at the story of the recent flood.

TOC had planned a wonderful Italian dinner in Suffolk where the fare was exceptional!

2009 ROSE SHOW: The Arrangements

Well, it's fairly obvious that I have no idea how to control where the photos land. That will have to come when I get to the 200 level of instruction!

The afternoon was spent hard at work (do note Jenny in background with Cary!)getting the arrangements together. There was much discussion about whether the judges had read the schedule!! (isn't there always???) but for the interclub class we should have known there was a problem when we learned this was TOC's third Federal GCV assignment! All in all we were delighted to come home with ribbons.

ROSE SHOW 2009: On the Road!

The cars were packed...Hospitality baskets by Jenny and Boyd for both cars!...Truly gourmet goodies ...Next stop Franklin!

ROSE SHOW 2009: //The Rest of the Story!

To Virginia's to find material and a container. Cary loves it and Virginia has made sure the measurements fit the schedule.

But as Matilda had mentored - "Don't get hung up on ONE container and miss the mark!"

. . . so the truly perfect Federal container emerged from Matilda's collection and it was off to Franklin.
